“once upon a time there was a little southern girl
who loved food above all other worldly pleasures. As soon as she was old enough
to stand on a chair and reach the counter, she could be found in the kitchen
with a cloud of flour swirling around her…”
Blackberry Market opened a town over a few weeks ago, and it’s quickly become my new
favorite restaurant in the area (I’ve been three times this week!). Not only is
it as cute as can be (look at those green chairs! and the beautiful ceilings!),
but the menu is to die for. Grilled
ham and brie sandwich, house made blackberry vinaigrette, roasted corn and
poblano soup, blackberry brownies, those cupcakes, grilled turkey and gouda…I
could go on and on. It’s like they got in my head and made my favorites, it’s a
little creepy if you think about it too hard.
Plus, it’s owned by Anna
Davidson, a local mom with connections all over town (and she’s employed a few
of my friends from school!), so if you’re from the area you’re pretty much
guaranteed to see a familiar face every time you drop by. If you live in the
Glen Ellyn area, you’ve got to step
in. Check out their website and
their Facebook page and their Indiegogo page for more information…and
stop in! You won’t be sorry.
